Audrey Reynolds Obituary

REYNOLDS Audrey Frances Nuckolls Reynolds, 68, went to her eternal home May 7, 2007. She was the daughter of Aubrey Richards and Frances Duggins Nuckolls. She is survived by her son, Franklin Richards Reynolds and his wife, Jennie; devoted cousins, including Margaret W. Vaughan and Beth Holman Gutherie and her husband, Jimmy; and many loving friends. A native Hanoverian, she graduated from Henry Clay High School in Ashland in 1956 and from Westhampton College of the University of Richmond in 1960. Her teaching career spanned from 1960 to 1999, and for the last 21 of those years, she was Lead Teacher Specialist for Social Studies for Hanover County Public Schools. She was a longtime member of Duncan Memorial United Methodist Church, where she served in numerous key leadership positions. For her community, she served on the Hanover County Zoning Appeals Board. She was a founding member of the Hanover Heritage Day Program and was an original member of the musical group, the Hanover Heartthrob. Audrey will be remembered for her great love of history and music, for her desire for everyone to have a good time, and for doing things her way. She was greatly loved and will be forever missed. A gathering of family and friends will be held Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Bliley Funeral Homes' Staples Mill Chapel, 8510 Staples Mill Rd. Services will be held Friday at 10 a.m. in Duncan Memorial United Methodist Church, 207 Henry St., Ashland, with interment in Woodland Cemetery, Ashland. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Duncan Memorial Music Program, P.O. Box 247, Ashland, Va. 23005, or to the Central Virginia Masterworks Chorale, P.O. Box 415, Ashland, Va. 23005.

I am sorry for your loss. I was a student of Audrey's in 1961-1962 at Patrick Henry High School and went on to be a history teacher myself.

It was always such a comfort to me to look across the field an know she was there. In the summer after Jules was born and I was home on maternity leave she used to walk across the field to visit us, usually after cutting the lawn because she would have on her sneakers and smell like fresh cut grass. Those little talks helped me not to be so lonely then. Thanks Buddie

Audrey will be missed! Her great character and strong personality were unique gifts. She patiently taught me to play bridge and during those sessions shared her avid love of books. She was a skillful teacher, and I'm so glad I knew her.

Richards,
I am very sorry for your loss. It seems very strange to think of your mom not being around. If I can do anything for you, please let me know. Love, Helen Holman
