Ava Sharp Obituary

Ava Glyn High Sharp, 80, of Richmond, Va., formerly of Wilson, died Tuesday. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Christian Church. Burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery. The Rev. Jack Clifford and the Rev. Coleman Markham will officiate. She received an A.B. at ACC and Barton College, and a Masters-MRE from Lexington Theological Seminary. She was a member of First Christian Church, a member of the Junior Woman's Club and a former teacher in the Wilson County Schools. Mrs. Sharp is survived by a daughter, Cindy S. Hudson and husband, Robert E. "Bobby", of Richmond, Va.; two sons, Allan Rhinehart "Rhine" Sharp Jr. and wife, Pegi, Timothy High Sharp and wife, Steffanie, all of Wilson; a brother, Edward O. High and wife, Janice, of Wilson; and nine grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Allan R. Sharp; her parents, Jesse E. High and Thelma Faye Peacock High; and a granddaughter, Cameron Sharp Hudson. The family will receive friends 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Joyner's Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson, N.C. Flowers are welcome or memorials in her name may be directed to Community Christian School, 5160 Packhouse Rd., Wilson, N.C. 27896.
