Rev. Dr. B. S. Giles

B. Giles Memoriam

GILES - Rev. Dr. B. S. A Godly Pastor, Husband, Father, and Friend Remembered. The late Rev. Dr. Bernard Sylvester Giles was called home from labor to reward four years ago today. He was the pastor of the First Union Baptist Church of Mechanisville for over 50 years and was respected throughout Hanover Co. and the Greater Richmond Metropolitian area as a Godly man. He was man of complete commitment, to him religion was not just something preached from the pulpit on Sunday morning it was the reality of day to day living and we take time to remember this honorable and respected pastor. Rev. Giles sat a standard that only a few attempt to meet. He exemplified the traits of a Godly man as set forth in the Gospel Text. He is solely missed and loved and admired. His legacy will live on in the hearts of many because the memory of a well spent life is eternal. If ever a loved one existed, If ever a sweet flower grew, If ever a soul filled its mission on earth, Rev. Giles it was you. Your wife, Vernell Giles

Rev. Giles was truly a Pastor for his Church. He is missed by many for his commitment, honesty, teachings, counseling, preaching and love to God, and his church. (A Pastor)

I remember going to First Union on many occasions and before the service started we would sing " I need thee Oh Lord I need thee. Rev Giles had a way about him that made you want to serve the Lord with gladness in your heart. He was truly a Godly Man. I can't say that about too many .. May the memories of Rev. Giles live in our hearts forever..
