Bruce Michael Koplin

KOPLIN Bruce Michael Koplin, 67, died Saturday, January 27, 2007, after a long illness. Mr. Koplin led a distinguished career as a Professor of Art History in Virginia Commonwealth University's School of the Arts, including serving as chair of the Art History Department for 12 years, prior to his retirement in 2002. Mr. Koplin is remembered for also serving as the Director of the Anderson Gallery in the School of the Arts, and for being central to both the Art Foundation and Museum Studies Programs. Mr. Koplin is survived by his wife, Lelia C. Koplin; and children, Lara W. Koplin, Eric J. Koplin, and Michael P. Koplin; and grandson, Miles G. Dawkins. A visitation has been scheduled from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, January 31, at the Central Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 3215 Cutshaw Ave. A burial service will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, February 1, in Hollywood Cemetery.
