David Sporn Obituary

SPORN, David Howard, died May 10, 2021 after a long battle with Alzheimer's. He was predeceased by his mother, Patricia Reisman Sporn. He is survived by his beloved wife of 31 years, Alisa Wang Sporn; and his children, Kayla Hope Sporn and Daniel Jason Sporn. He is also survived by his father, Dr I. Norman Sporn; and sisters, Ellyn Sporn Butler (Raymond) and Karen Sporn Franco (Alan); and aunt, Cheryl Sporn Gross (Bill); as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.

He is a graduate of JR Tucker High School, the University of Maryland and Columbia University. While finishing his master's program at Columbia, he formed Sporn Productions, through which he produced and directed music videos, documentaries and promotional videos. He worked for Newline Cinema for several years. He left New Line to produce his first feature film, "The Road from Erebus." He then formed Short End Productions, a production and development company. His creative career was cut short by the early onset of Alzheimer's disease.

He was a loving husband, father, son, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend. He was an avid reader. He was an empathetic and socially conscious man who loved history and was politically astute.

Graveside services were held Thursday at New Montefiore Cemetery, West Babylon, N.Y.

In lieu of flowers or gifts, family requests memorial donations to either The Alzheimer's Association, www.alz.org, or Alzheimer's Drug Discovery Foundation, alzdiscovery.org/ways-to-give.

Not much of a memory except to know him as a child of Norman Sporn. So I wish condolences to his father on this 2022 memory.

To the Sporn family, please accept my condolences for David's passing at such young age when the blossoms of his life had shown his many accomplishments.
