Delaney Sue Brown

BROWN, Delaney Sue, 29, of Philadelphia, PA, died of brain cancer on October 5, 2023. She is survived by her mother, Coakley Brown; father, Scott Brown; sister, Brady Brown (William); brother, Aidan Brown; grandmother, Finola Steiner; and dog, Samson, who saved her life and never left her side. Excelling as a scholar and athlete, she graduated from St. Gertrude High School (Valedictorian, 2012) and the University of Virginia (McIntire School of Commerce, Echols Scholar, 2016), and shared her love for learning by volunteering as a mentor. Delaney's innate curiosity and sharp intellect served her well at T. Rowe Price, Virginia Retirement System, and CBRE. Analytical by trade but intuitive by nature, Delaney demonstrated her creativity through her command of words. Writing was a passion, revealing her insightful, brilliant mind, evident in her recently published poem, "Daffodil." Her wisdom reflected an astute perception of the human experience. Delaney was a lifelong Cleveland baseball fan with a love of music. Despite living in various cities, she felt most at home in nature. Her loved ones will miss her one-of-a-kind, infectious smile, her signature humor, her thoughtfulness, and her empathy. True to self, she inspired authenticity in others as well.

A celebration of her life will be held at 11 a.m. on October 21, 2023, at Our Lady of Lourdes (outdoor pavilion, weather permitting) 8200 Woodman Rd, Richmond, VA 23228. Visitation will be 30 minutes prior, reception to follow. Dress comfortably (tie-dye, concert, and sports t-shirts welcomed).
