Earl Hatcher Obituary

Earl H. Hatcher, 88, of Lanexa, died Thursday, July 7, 2005. He was a flight engineer in World War II Air Corps. Earl retired from Southern Railroad as the agent to West Point. He was a former member of the Kiwanis and West Point Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department. Earl was a member of First Baptist Church of West Point. His wives, Dorothy O. Hatcher and Jeanette C. Hatcher, preceded him in death. He is survived by his daughter and her husband, Pam and Paul Diming of Midlothian; stepdaughter, Brenda Eddy of Sandston; two stepsons, Robert W. Cheatham of Lanexa and Wayne Cheatham of Mathews; sister, Ethlyn Francisco of Virginia Beach; seven grandchildren, Christopher Diming, Kimberly Eddy, William Eddy Jr., Spencer Cheatham, Charlene Eich, Cheryl Cheatham and Matthew Cheatham; six great-grandchildren, Christopher, Virginia, Kelsey, Johnny, Jerry and Jacob. A funeral service will be held Sunday, 3 p.m. at First Baptist Church, West Point, Va. Burial in Sunny Slope Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight, 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Vincent Funeral Home, 417 11th Street, West Point, Va. Memorials may be made to West Point Volunteer Fire & Rescue Squad, Inc., Box X, West Point, Va. 23181 or Henrico Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 911, Sandston, Va. 23150.
