Ella Hale Obituary

HALE, Ella Mae Allen, 94, of Hopewell, Va., passed away on Friday, January 8, 2021. Born in Lawrenceville, Va., she was the daughter of the late John Wesley Allen Sr. and Rosa Daniel Allen; and was also preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, James Quinton Hale; a sister, Marie A. Sledge; and two brothers, Robert T. Allen and J.W. Allen Jr. Mrs. Hale retired from John Randolph Medical Center in Hopewell, Va., after 54 years of dedicated service, and had also been the co-owner of Hale's Mobile Home, LLC in Hopewell. She was a former member of Powers Memorial Baptist Church, Hopewell, Va., and was most currently a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Colonial Heights. She was a member of the Generations Sunday School Class at Mt. Pleasant. Ms. Ella loved her Mt. Pleasant family and her John Randolph friends and co-workers. She enjoyed taking bus trips, good food, shopping and spending time with her granddog, Charley and her cats. She was a very special lady because she made everyone feel special. She loved Jesus Christ, her Savior, and her family. She is survived by her daughters, Rebecca Hale Adams and husband, Douglas and Lynda Hale Phelps and husband, Fred; a nephew, Bill Ogburn; a dear cousin, Rev. Linwood Daniel and wife, Barbara; and many close cousins. The family would like to thank the Encompass Home Health Care Team, Crater Community Hospice, Stacey Ingram-Hanson, CFNP and her special caregivers (you know who you are!). A public Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Interment will be private. The family is being served by the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to either Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, 3110 Greenwood Ave., Colonial Heights, Va. 23834 or to Crater Community Hospice, 3916 S. Crater Rd., Petersburg, Va. 23805 in memory of Ella Hale. Condolences may be registered at www.jtmorriss.com.

So Sorry for the loss of a wonderful Christian. I grew up at the same church she went too "Powers Memorial Baptist Church". I was baptistized at that church. Ella Mae was one of my favorite sunday school teachers. Ella, I will miss seeing you at the reunions at this church. The last time I went to a reunion you were there. Love to her Family and may Good comfort y'all and give you strength. RIP Ella Mae Hale

I learned of your mom's passing from Ruth Smith. It was my honor and pleasure to have known Mrs. Hale. She always had a smile and a cheerful greeting. May your many memories give you comfort.

Ms. Hale was a positive person who genuinely cared about people. She enjoyed her work at John Randolph where she worked tirelessly to ensure that the hospital had adequate nursing staff on
every shift. Ms. Hale built great relationships with staff, and she was well liked.

Ms Ella was a very classy and special lady. She had the special ability to make you feel as if you were the only person in the room when she talked to you. She had a motherly presence that made you feel secure and accepted. Her smile and hugs will always be missed. Her memories and friendship will be treasured in our hearts.
