Elnora Hunter Obituary

Elnora Lillian Robinson Hunter was born in Richmond, Virginia on September 10, 1927. God called her home on July 9, 2024.
She leaves to mourn her loss: son, Chester W. Hunter Jr and two daughters, Patricia Hunter Jordan and Cynthia H. Pierce (Keith); six grandsons, Marc M. Hunter, John F. Jordan Jr. (Amanda), Christopher J. Anderson, Corey L. Jordan (Shannon), Jason A. Anderson, and Kordell A. Coleman-Hunter (Ashley); three great granddaughters, Meshia Hunter, JaMeshia Williams and Ziyonna Hunter; seven great grandsons, Marzhire (Jaidah) Hunter, Jayden Hill, Kordell Jr., Korde and Korvell Hunter, Caden and Jayce Jordan; three great-great grandsons, Ramann Harris, Zion Hunter and Adionas Dunn; two daughters in love, Ireland Brewer and Yolanda Coleman; one step-granddaughter, Kienda Simpson (Eric); and one step-great-granddaughter, Amiyah; two dedicated and devoted cousins, Joyce Knight and Janet Shelton, other relatives and friends.
Elnora was educated in the Richmond Public Schools, graduating from Armstrong High School. She attended Virginia Union University and graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University with a Bachelor of Science degree. She taught in the Richmond Public School System retiring in 1990.
She was a lifelong and dedicated member of Moore Street Missionary Baptist Church where she actively participated as a member of the Helen M. Smith Missionary Circle, The Sisterhood, Lott Carey, hospitality committee and Pearl Wood Memorial Choir.
Elnora was a member of the Delver Woman's club, Friends of African American Art of the VMFA, AARP, Life member of the National Council of Negro Women, Richmond Retired Teacher's Association, the Battery Park Senior Citizens club, and The Red Hat Society, and Cavalier Chapter of American Business Women's Association.
