Franklin Shockley Obituary

Franklin O'dell Shockley Sr., 72, of Mechanicsville, departed this life on Wednesday, June 8, 2005 at his home, Dun Roamin Farm, Mechanicsville, Va. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 47 years, Dorothy Carter Shockley; one son, Franklin O'dell Shockley Jr.; and two granddaughters, Loren and Tory Shockley, of Mechanicsville. Mr. Shockley is also survived by one sister-in-law, Myrtle Shockley; and two nephews, James and David Shockley. Mr. Shockley was preceded in death by his parents, Howard L. Shockley Sr. and Ruth Hall Shockley; one brother, Howard L. Shockley Jr.; and one sister, Marion S. Tate. Mr. Shockley was president of Cheek & Shockley RV Sales for over 30 years. Mr. Shockley was a longtime member of Mizpah Methodist Church, Walkerton, Va., and a member of many clubs and organizations. He had many hobbies, collecting and restoring antique cars was his favorite. The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Friday and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the Mechanicsville Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 8014 Lee Davis Rd., and where services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday. Interment will follow at Mizpah Methodist Church Cemetery, Walkerton, Va.

I have known Odell most of my life, my dad worked with him many years. He was somewhat of a father to me.I will miss odell but will never forget him. A very goodharted man.
