Iva Maye Robb Purdy

PURDY, Iva Maye Robb, 103, died September 24, 2022. Iva Maye was the widow of Charles R. Purdy. She retired as Clerk of the Circuit Court of the City of Richmond and of the former Hustings Court, Part II, after a 56-year career.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry B. and Iva H. Robb; her sister, Sylvia R. Seal (Raymond); her nephew, Kenneth R. Seal; her stepchildren, Mary P. Hannaford (Russ), Catherine P. Bush (Francis), Leonard A. Purdy (Jessie) and Virginia P. Jewett (Fred); and her grandson, Donald J. Bush. She is survived by her nephew's wife, Joann Seal; grandchildren, Kathryn Jewett Hogenson (Gary), Fred F. Jewett (Julia), Nell J. Chenault, Dr. Charles P. Jewett (Anne), Edward F. Jewett (Detta), Virginia J. Watson, David C. Purdy (Lynn), Martha P. Mollard (John), Dawn H. Kline, Martha H. Cavey (Alan) and Henry G. Bush (Sylvia); 18 great-grandchildren, 19 great-great-grandchildren; and close friend, Bevill M. Dean.

Iva Maye was an active volunteer for numerous Richmond community groups including The Manchester Family YMCA, The Hermitage Guild, United Methodist Women, Richmond Public Schools, John Marshall High School alumni, Chesmond Woman's Club and Beta Sigma Phi. She was a long-time member of Berryman United Methodist Church.

A memorial service will be held at Westover Hills United Methodist Church on Saturday, October 15, 2022 at 2 p.m. A reception will follow at the church.
