James Franklin Gabbert

October 16, 1943 - September 23, 2024

James "Jim" Franklin Gabbert, 80, of Colonial Heights, VA peacefully passed away on September 23, 2024. Born in White Sulphur Springs, WV on October, 16, 1943, he was the son of the late Ernest Marshall Gabbert and Edith Ellen Gabbert. He was preceded in death by his brother Marshall and his sister Alice. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Sarah Gabbert. Also, by his children Jamie (Amy) Gabbert and Michele (Shane) Covington. Grandchildren Alex (Cassie) Gabbert, Emily Gabbert, Jeremy (Haylee) Ervin, Shane (Sara) Ervin, Great-grandchildren Charlotte Ervin and Finley Ervin. Brothers Ernie, Larry, and Eric, and his sisters Connie and Beverly, as well as a host of nieces and nephews. Jim served in the US Navy and worked as a truck driver for over 30 years before retiring in 2007. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He loved golf and passed his love for the game down to his son and grandsons. Funeral services will be private.
