I can not think about Janet without smiling. She was truly a "one of a kind" and although we will miss seeing her I know how fully she lived her life. The expression comes to mind - an old one - Janet was a "great dame"!! Enjoy that great golf course in heaven - you will beat them all hands down

Where do I begin? How do you describe a Janet? You can't. Words are just not enough. But, oh, the memories we carry with us forever in our hearts. They are just like the lady, amazing. You did it girlfriend! You lived life on your own terms and enjoyed retirement to the fullest! I will never forget our talks both serious and crazy, all the e-mails and the telephone calls. My life is richer having had you in it. I am not sad at all, because as we said many times I know you are looking down on your family and friends saying, "I'm home! Man what a ride!" I love you girlfriend!

My prayers are with your family at this time of loss, but be comforted in knowing how many lives Janet touched in her brief encounter here on earth. She was a wonderful person to know and work with. I also had the honor of knowing her and working with her on one of the ASID Designer houses and several VCU student chapter related projects.

My prayers are with you and your families during this time of grief. Aunt Janet was a wonderful person, and I will remember her always. I regret not keeping better in touch. Her light will always shine on.

I'm not the only person to write about how Janet was a wonderful mentor. When I started my business in 1980, it was to Janet that I went for advice, which she happily gave though I was a potential competitor. Through ASID we came to know each other well, and as I followed her in leadership of the Va. Chapter, we traveled to a couple of conferences together. She was one of a kind, so professional as well as talented. It was so much fun to have her return to Va. each time we had an Awards Gala, and it was only September that we saw her never dreaming it would be the last time. What a great gal! I'll miss her.

I will always remember Janet fondly as a great leader and mentor. I appreciate the ability to learn from her years of experience at a time when my career was just beginning. She has left her mark on the design profession here in Richmond and will not soon be forgotten for her passion, sense of humor and hearty laugh. We'll miss you, Janet. Love to your family and thanks for the time you made for me and the impression you left.

Janet was an inspiration to me as I was fortunate to have completed an interior design internship under her guidance and work with her later in our careers. She will truly be missed by all in the design industry.

Janet will be missed by many. She was a great designer, boss, friend, and volunteer. Although she was best known as a strong business leader in our industry, Janet's most precious accomplishment was raising two fine men. When she talked about her "boys" and grandchildren, her face lit up. We were very lucky to have her in our lives and she will not be forgotten. Sincerely, Cindy A. Burke, ASID
