Lindsey Lucas Obituary

LUCAS, Lindsey Paige, 38, on April 12, 2024, peacefully stepped into the arms of Jesus, her Shepherd, after a battle with cancer. A non-verbal autistic young lady, she faced many challenges and spent her life living with her parents, Chris and Sue Lucas. They, along with her sister, Andie Lucas Wade, are left to mourn her passing and cherish her memory. Lindsey was blessed with good health and a very active life. She attended Chesterfield Public Schools, until age 22 and then attended Diversity, an adult special needs day program, Monday-Friday for the next 16 years. The Diversity Training & Support Center was a God send for her and her parents. There, she traveled about, busy with many events, activities, and places of interest in the community. We will eternally be thankful for their love and dedication to Lindsey and her many friends there. She also had many friends and helpers at Immanuel Baptist Church, where she attended with her parents. She loved visiting with her sister Andie's family, brother-in-law Chuck, and niece and nephew, Rachel and Lucas, as well as many happy Thanksgiving celebrations at Charles and Peggy Wade's house. She is also survived by her uncle, Tim Lucas (Aunt Lucia), and cousin Kasey Lucas Hayes (Tim Hayes). Also Uncle Dave Abernethy (Aunt Annie) and cousins Justin, Dylan, and Micah Abernethy. Though challenged with communication in her earthly life, she can now speak openly and echo the promise of scripture: "I consider that our present sufferings are not worthy to be compared with the glory that will be revealed in us." (Romans 8:18) Thanks be to God!

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, April 19, 2024, at Bliley's-Chippenham, 6900 Hull Street Rd. A memorial ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 27, at Immanuel Baptist Church, 3601 Monument Ave, Richmond, Va. 23230.

Sue, I am so very sorry to hear about Lindsey´s passing. You randomly came into my thoughts today and I googled you. Lindsey was so sweet and you and Chris and Andie were such good friends to my family. I´ll never forget Danny and Lindsey at the room. Much love to you. Maybe her memory be a blessing.

Chris, I didn't know about your daughter and realize your family is suffering right now, but she's in good hands. I'm so sorry for the pain you must be feeling.
