Martha Perdue Obituary
Martha completed both her bachelor's and master's degrees at Virginia Commonwealth University. Martha started teaching straight out of college and continued teaching until her retirement. Teaching was Martha's true calling. She shared her passion for life and learning with the thousands of children she taught over her long career. Her pride was in her school and all of her students, who loved her as she loved them.
Martha had an uncanny ability to find happiness in her daily activities, no matter how mundane. Her larger than life personality and laugh were contagious to everyone she met.
Martha is survived by her sons, Christopher Perdue and Preston Perdue; daughters-in-law, Susan Perdue and Stephanie Perdue; brother, David Chaffins; sister-in-law, Anne Chaffins; and grandchildren, Erik Perdue, Spencer Perdue, Avery Perdue, Archer Perdue and Hayden Perdue. The family would like to extend their heart felt thanks to Bonnie and Ricky Anderson, Cathie Simpson and all the nurses at the Laurels of Bon Air for all their care and compassion.
A private service will be held for Martha at All Saints Episcopal Church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's, https://www.michaeljfox.org/donate.

So sorry to hear of your loss. We just found out today about Martha. Your mom was a great person and had the best out look on life. She was always full of joy and could make you laugh always. You never me knew what was going to come out of her mouth!! She will be truly miss

My Deepest Condolence to the family. Martha was the light in the room whenever we were together. She was an excellent tutor to my son Devin and he loved her dearly. SIP Martha, you surely will be missed. My Prayers are with you all.

Martha had a larger than life personality, a contagious laugh, and the ability to see the positive in every situation! She was loved by the countless children she taught and helped throughout her many years with Henrico! I can hear her laugh echoing down the hallways now! Rest In Peace Martha Dougie Barradale

I use to Groom Martha's little schnauzer Dean. I called him ( Deanie Weenie ) I loved Martha and her laugh. She was a fun person to be around. I am so sorry for ya'lls loss. I know she will be missed. Save me a drink Martha!!

To all of Martha's family, I loved her so much. She was a pistol. She and I struck up a friendship right away. She could be quite demanding at times. Tho she mellowed some. She sang. She made people laugh. She wasn't Martha unless she was up and dressed and makeup on and hair done. I tried to visit with her every day. I will surely miss her and our visits. My thoughts and prayers are with you all during this sad time. Nancy
