Nancy Clements Haislip

HAISLIP, Nancy Clements, 74, passed away April 15, 2021. She was predeceased by her parents, Ernest L. and Annie B. Clements. She is survived by her loving husband, Kenneth Haislip of Heathsville, Va.; and her sister, Myra Clements of Richmond. She is also survived by her stepchildren, David (Teri), Duane (Elaine), Jason, Debbie Lee (John), Amanda Booth (Philip Marston) and Nadine Hayden (Jacob). She is also survived by stepgrandchildren, Chris (Tara), Jessica, Connor, Ansley, Aden, Andersen, Gabe, Jack, Gus and Bridget. She is also survived by stepgreat-grandchildren, Nevaeh, Austin, Savannah and Cameron.

Nancy graduated from Longwood University in 1969. There she met her lifelong friend, Karen Wolfe. Nancy began her teaching career in Brunswick County in 1969. She moved to Hampton in 1973 to take a job teaching at Langley Elementary School. She taught there for 25 years. She finished her teaching career at Lindsey Middle School. After retirement in 2000, Nancy became an avid tutor for Hampton City Schools. While teaching at Hampton Schools, she enjoyed working with her fellow teachers and friends, Wendy Carroll, Lonna Horeth and Faye Pettiford.

Nancy was a charter member of the Alpha Pi Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa. Later, she moved her membership to the Beta Lambda Chapter after relocating to the Northern Neck. Nancy was a member of Saluda Baptist Church, but attended Smithland Baptist Church in Heathsville.

Nancy loved cats. Many homeless cats made it to her door. She is survived by her beloved cats, Maria, Tom, Sammy Jo and George. They brought her much pleasure and love. Graveside service will be 2 p.m., Saturday, April 24, 2021 at Harmony Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Topping, Va. Please be advised that current state-mandated guidelines will apply to all in attendance, including social distancing and appropriate face coverings.
