Robert L. Fox, III

Robert L. Fox III, of Richmond, VA, unexpectedly passed away on November 15, 2024, at the age of 53. He was predeceased by his parents, Diann D. Fox and Robert L. Fox Jr. Rob is survived by his wife, Anne Dressler Fox; and his children, Emma Josephine Fox and Joseph Claiborne Fox.

Known to many as "Rob", "Robbie", "Foxman", or "Foxy", he was born on June 28, 1971, in Richmond, VA. Rob graduated from Benedictine High School in 1989 and went on to earn his bachelor's degree in Human Resources and Industrial Relations from Virginia Commonwealth University. After returning to Richmond, Rob began his career at Anthem and later worked at Mass Mutual. In 2010, he launched his own business, Fox Insurance and Financial Services, which he ran with dedication and pride until his passing. Deeply rooted in the Richmond community, Rob was loved by many and known for his warmth and charisma. He enjoyed countless activities, including spending time with family and friends in Richmond & in Deltaville, frequenting the Northside Grill, attending concerts, and shad fishing on the James River. Among his proudest moments was catching his prized citation Wahoo. Rob's ability to connect with others was unmatched. He never met a stranger and brought together a vibrant community of friends who will deeply mourn his loss.

The family will receive friends on Friday, November 22, 2024, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at Bliley's Central, 3801 Augusta Avenue. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at 11 a.m. at Benedictine, 12829 River Road, with a reception to follow.

Rob was one of a kind, and the world seems a much emptier place without him. My son Charles and I saw him often at Northside Grille, and spoke with him there on November 5, as we had often done over the years. Always a good joke and a fast smile, and the heartiest of laughter. I first met him at Holton Elementary many years ago, and he had the aura of a man utterly at home in the world, and those around him sensed it, and were drawn to him. We shared, among other things, a passion for fishing, and he had caught a massive wahoo, a citation fish, I think, which he told . He bragged constantly on his children and wife, and there was not a mean bone in his body. All of Northside weeps at this loss, and would that we had more time with him.

I was fortunate to join Scott & Stringfellow the week after Diann had Robbie, and she and I worked together for five years. We have stayed in touch over the years. I saw Rob at Bobby´s funeral and the result was he bought our home in Deltaville that he had borrowed on occasion. He and his family are a delightful foursome and I have learned to love them all. I know Diann and Bobby were proud of them. Rob was especially fond of the fishing trip he took his father on just a few years ago. I share the loss with Anne, Emma and Joseph. They are in my prayers. I've known Robbie since he was about 3. His family lived behind mine and he and my kids played in our backyard all the time. I also kept him while his parents worked. He was a wonderful, kind and loving little boy and was the same when he grew up. He will be missed so very much.

Such a profound, untimely loss. Absolutely devastating. I am so sorry for all who knew Rob. He truly was a genuinely kind, good hearted man. I will miss his presence at Northside Grille. He truly enjoyed life, always gushing about his children and how proud he was of them. SO sorry for all who have lost such a great person. Shanan Chambers

Rob was one of the nicest guys I've ever met. He always had a smile on his face, even when dealing with his own issues. Rob was great at his job, but above all that, he treated his clients with a great deal of respect and kindness. So very sorry to hear of his passing.
