Robert Strauss Obituary
High Point - Robert Edward Strauss, Sr. died December 2, 2023.
Robert was born in Philadelphia, PA on August 31, 1921. He was raised in Richmond, VA. He was a graduate of Benedictine Catholic High School in Richmond and attended two years of college at Georgetown University. After serving in the U.S. Army, he went to work for General Motors Chevrolet Division in Richmond. He worked for the them for over 40 years.
Robert was raised in a family of four boys and one girl. Robert and his wife, Hilda, raised a family of four girls and one boy. Robert was preceded in death by both parents, his sibling, his wife, and a son Robert, Jr. Robert is survived by his four daughters, Janet Macrae of High Point, NC, Diane Gardiner of Holly Spring, NC, Charlotte Huxtable of Seattle, WA, and Debbie Mitchell of High Point, NC, as well as 15 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and six great-great grandchildren.
Robert loved his family, the Catholic Church, and enjoyed playing golf and going fishing.
The family will greet friend from 10:30 to 10:55 a.m. on Friday, December 15, 2023 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church at 4145 Johnson Street in High Point, follow by a Memorial Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. officiated by Reverend Thomas Norris.
The family expresses their thanks to Brookdale North Memory Care and Hospice of the Piedmont for their loving care.
Memorial donations may be sent to IHM Catholic Church, Brookdale North Memory Care at 1568 Skeet Club Road, High Point, NC 27265 or to Hospice of the Piedmont at 1801 Westchester Drive, High Point, NC 27262.

So very sorry to learn of Robert´s passing. He was a true gentleman and among the last of the greatest generation. I always loved his visits to our dealership and his interest in the car business and in Chevrolet in particular. He was a special friend and I will treasure the memory of his stories of his experiences with Chevrolet and the military. (He was one of the last WWII veterans to attend our annual Veterans event.).
