DAVIS, Sergeant First Class Ross Edward, Jr., (United States Army Retired), 90, of West Point, Va., left his earthly command on April 14, 2021. SFC Davis retired with 20 years of active duty with the United States Army in 1973. SFC Davis was a Combat Medic during the Korean War and served as a Military Police Officer, Highway Patrol, Germany. SFC Davis also served as a Criminal Investigator during his tour in Germany and retired as an Administration Specialist. SFC Davis earned the following medals and awards during his 20 years of service with the United States Army: Bronze Star Medal; Purple Heart Medal; Combat Infantry Badge; Combat Medic Badge; Army Good Conduct Medal, Fourth Award; National Defense Service Medal with one Bronze Star Device; Army Meritorious Unit Commendation, Korean Conflict; Army of Occupation Medal, Korean Service Medal, with Five Combat Bronze Stars; Korean Presidential Unit Commendation and NATO Service Medal. During his retirement, Ross spent many happy hours at the horse races, fishing off his boat with friends and catching and cooking a variety of sea food. He was a member of Brett-Reed Memorial Presbyterian Church. Ross was preceded in death by his parents, Ross E. Davis Sr. and Wilma Kabai Sobrido; stepfather, Joe Sobrido; brother-in-law, V.T. Rector; mother-in-law, Annie Waxmunski; father-in-law, Edward Waxmunski; granddaughter, Sarah Davis; siblings, Deanna Davis, Richard Davis and Patty Davis. SFC Davis is survived by his devoted wife, Nancy Waxmunski Davis; a son, Charles E. Davis and wife, Stephanie of Richmond; a daughter, Debra E. Davis of West Point; a sister, Linda Sue Rector of Georgia; a grandson, Michael E. Davis and wife, Ashley of Colorado; a sister-in-law, Joyce Offield; brothers-in-law, Willie Offield and Eddie Waxmunski. A special thanks to everyone who took care of him from the First Responders of West Point Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department, Ladies of Bay Aging, Aylett Medical Center Staff, Sentara Hospital Staff, Kindred Hospice Ladies and his cousin, Randell Kabai. A graveside service with military honors will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, April 22, at Brett-Reed Memorial Presbyterian Church Cemetery, 29680 King William Road, West Point, Va. 23181.
