Stephanie Ewalt Coleman
It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of Stephanie Ewalt Coleman on February 12, 2025, while at the Mary Morton Parsons Health Center at Westminster Canterbury, Richmond, Virginia.
Stephanie was a resident of Midlothian, Virginia, and spent her early life at Beverly Hall, Millersville, MD. She was predeceased by her parents G. Walther and Claire Stalfort Ewalt and siblings Beverly Barton Ewalt and Rosalie Ewalt Kelly.
She was a devoted wife to Ronald L. Coleman, Sr. who survives her along with her children James Riley Ayers, V (Amanda); C. Brandon Ayers; Cameron S. Ayers; Ronald L. Coleman, Jr.; and Christopher B. Coleman (Janet). Her surviving siblings are Martha Ewalt Cox (Ocala, FL); G. Walther "Wally" Ewalt (Salem, SC); Barton Ewalt (Chloe) of Prince Frederick, MD, and Douglas Ewalt (Elizabeth), Prince Frederick, MD. Her surviving grandchildren who affectionally called her “Gigi” are Reagan Ayers and Riley Ayers, Dylan Coleman, Jordan Coleman, Rachel Coleman, and Logan Coleman.
Stephanie was a graduate of Wroxeter-on-the-Severn School, Arnold, Maryland, a boarder and graduate of Holton-Arms School, Bethesda, Maryland, and Sweet Briar College, Amherst, VA.
She was a longtime parishioner of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, and her faith was an integral part of her life.
Stephanie had a passion for travel and enjoyed frequent trips to New York and London, England with her husband Ron to visit friends and attend theaters and museums.
She was an equestrian and had been riding horses since age five with a deep love of thoroughbreds which were bred by her family at "Delhi" in Southern Maryland. One of her greatest enjoyments was an opportunity to attend the London 2012 Olympics, particularly the Equestrian Dressage events. Further, she especially enjoyed visiting the Cotswolds and attending the Royal Ascot Races in June where she and Ron entertained their UK friends.
Stephanie also cherished visiting her vacation home, "Magnolia Ridge" located along Battle Creek in Southern Maryland where she entertained friends and family. She was active in the community serving on the boards at the Boys Club of Virginia, the Virginia Historical Society and Sweet Briar College Alumni.
Stephanie was a past member of the Country Club of Virginia and a member of the Salisbury Country Club, Midlothian, VA as well as the Junior League of Richmond.
Stephanie made her International Debutante Debut at the Ball of the Silver Rose, Palais Schwarzenberg, Vienna, Austria and at the Debutante Cotillion, Sheraton Park Hotel, Washington, DC.
Stephanie had an unwavering love for her family, always staying connected and cherishing every opportunity to gather with them. She had countless friends, each of whom she valued deeply, forming bonds that spanned decades and touched many lives. She enjoyed her life to the fullest and loved spending time with her beloved grandchildren as well as with family and friends. She had the gift of always having a smile on her face and an infectious personality. Her positive spirit would fill a room and was carried into everything she did. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy of kindness, selflessness, and unwavering love will continue to live on in the hearts of family and friends.
The family wishes to acknowledge and express appreciation to those who cared for Stephanie at the Mary Morton Parsons Health Center and the team at Westminster Canterbury for their devoted care and partnership with the family. Moreover, a special appreciation and gratitude for the unceasing, compassionate care of Stephanie for the past several years by her private caregivers, Juanita Brown, and Portia Crump.
Funeral services will be held at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, 6000 Grove Avenue, Richmond, Virginia on February 19, 2025, at 11 a.m.
A burial will be held at Westhampton Memorial Park, 10000 Patterson Ave., Richmond, Virginia following the service at St. Stephens.
