William Nielsen Obituary
April 15, 1948 - January 16, 2026
William G. Nielsen, of Glen Allen, VA, passed away on January 16, 2026. Born on April 15, 1948, in New York to Jorgen Skovgaard Nielsen and Geraldine (Dickerson) Nielsen, he grew up in Rutherford, New Jersey. Bill graduated from the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland (Class of 1971) and was a naval aviator. He received his MBA from Fairleigh Dickinson University.
Bill held management positions in a variety of companies (Command Airlines, Philip Morris, Bethlehem Steel, and Capital One) and was an author, with several articles appearing in local Richmond magazines.
Survivors include his wife, Judie; daughter, Robyn; son, Christopher; step-daughters, Stephanie and Sarah; sister, Kirsten; and brother, Eric. He was pre-deceased by his parents and four sisters, Karen, Jane, Jacqueline, and Trine.
A Celebration of life will be held at Bliley's Funeral Home, Augusta Avenue, Richmond, at a later, as yet to be determined, date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Michael J. Fox Parkinson's Foundation.
