Louise Basile Obituary

Louise Mary (Piccirilli) Basile, 103, of Plymouth Meeting PA, passed away peacefully on Sunday May 16, 2021 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Born on October 25, 1917 in the Black Horse section of Plymouth Meeting, she was a daughter of the late Lorenzo and Mary (DeAngelis) Piccirilli, and the loving wife of 67 years to Alexander J. Basile. Louise was born and raised in Black Horse and was a dedicated and life-long parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Plymouth Meeting. Louise worked for many years at the Markel Corporation in Plymouth Meeting as well as the former Jacob Reed’s & Sons Uniforms in Bridgeport, PA until her retirement. Louise loved cooking and baking especially for her family every Sunday. Her door was always open, and she was never without delicious food to feed her family and friends during their frequent visits to her house. Louise loved entertaining and having company and being surrounded by her family, especially her great-grandchildren. Louise also enjoyed tending to her many flowers and plants, watching cooking shows, games shows, and the Bachelor/Bachelorette on TV, doing the daily crossword puzzle in the newspaper, going out to eat, and playing slot machines at the casino. Louise was a dedicated member of the Our Lady of Mount Carmel Sodality, the Holy Saviour Senior Citizens group, and the Young at Hearts Club in Plymouth Meeting. Louise is survived by her three children, Joseph Basile (Rosemarie), Carol Piantone (Chuck Castenova), and Diane Giovinco (Philip); Six grandchildren, Michele Trott (Robert), Joseph Basile (Trisha), Louis Piantone IV, Alexa Piantone, Nathan Wachter (Lindsey), and Daniel Wachter (Kimberly); Nine great-grandchildren, Briella Wachter, Camilla Wachter, Rocco Piantone, Roman Forbes, Thomas Gunn, Ryleigh Gunn, Summer Nelligan, Adriana Wachter, and Odin Wachter. Louise is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and close friends. In addition to her parents and loving husband, Louise was preceded in death by her eight siblings, brothers William, Anthony, John, Joseph, Carmen, and Albert Piccirilli, and sisters Mary Giannini, and Victoria Vernacchio. Family and friends are invited to attend the viewing for Louise on Thursday evening, May 20, 2021 from 6:00PM-8:00PM, and Friday May 21, 2021 from 9:30-11:00AM at the Holy Saviour Church, 407 E. Main St. Norristown, PA. 19401. Mass will follow the viewing of Friday morning at 11:00AM at the church. Burial will take place in the St. Patrick’s Cemetery, East Norriton PA.
