Ahmad Malik Obituary
Ahmad-Malik, also called Da Mudman, passed away suddenly on Feb. 2, 2011 at his home in Sedona, Ariz.
Malik is survived by his wife of 20 years, Dr. Kayo Malik; daughters, Jahisha, Naima, Jahmillah, Afrika, Nomalanga, Aisha and Mawusi Malik; son, Tai Malik; sisters, Fredna Gulley, Patricia and Pamela Barlow, Dora Parlor and Grace McGill; brothers, Anthony and James Barlow, Sampson (Lisa) McGill, Thomas McGill and Michael Gaines; and nine grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 26, at Tabernacle of David, 1100 Lincoln Road East, Vallejo.

Malik was like a brother to me . A man for the people with love and respect for all . Loving nature and Humans alike. I know he is heaven working as an angel for the good of all . I'll never forget that day when Malik, Da Mudman, came into my café - Java Love in Burlington, Vermont. 1996 perhaps? He was new to VT, and had just arrived from Hawaii. I was playing the classic Marvin Gaye album, "What's Going On" in the Java Love and he gave me high praise for my musical taste. We bonded immediately as brothers. He gave me a copy of his CD "A.W.O.L. (All Ways One Love)" and I still have it to this day. Though we lost touch with each other years ago, I was saddened to hear of his passing. Much love to Malik and his family. Da Mudman - Be Eternal. One love.
This was last April at Red Rock when you and I shared time. What a memory.

It is extremely difficult to find the words to express my sadness. I pray for comfort for the Malik family. Have peace in knowing that the Lord's will is perfect. Malik was a sincere friend, and will always be in my heart and memories.

Malik what a man
I had to pray to ask God to give me the words to say. It took me three weeks before I could speak on Malik's sudden departure from Earth. I want to first send my prayers and condolences to his wife Kaya and family and friends on the passing of an unsung

When I heard of his passing, I was in shock,
A man so fit, a man with so much love, man who inspired so many, who was a great Father, Grand Father, Husband, brother a friend and a great listener, a man who bridged the gap with love and respect to all people, nations and nature, a true humanitarian in every sense of the word
A goodwill ambassador. An artist, musician, farmer, healer, poet.
I met Malik in January 1976 in San Francisco; I had just joined Third World
I met Malik we became best of friends.
Malik was/is very special when in walks into a room, it lights up and radiates
For those who knew him knows that he has his own way of speaking wisdom
Like no one else.
All I can say is that he is busy, working over time in heaven to help planet earth
Be a better place making sweet music and writing a new formula for peace
On earth. MALIK it was a blessing knowing you may you rest in peace doing
