Bert Hussey died Nov. 27 at the age of 95.
Bert was raised in Vallejo, attending school at St. Vincent's. He married Lenore Wilson in April of 1931 and had three children, Jack, Joanna and Paul. The family moved to the Browns Valley area in Napa in 1945, living on the same property for 63 years.
He began his lifelong career in the moving and storage business with his father, Grover. Bert took over Hussey's Moving and Storage when his father died and was later joined by his two sons. He retired in 1999 at the age of 84, when the business was sold. He was an active member of the Napa Valley Horsemen, Solano County Sheriff's Posse, California Mover's Associated and the Vallejo Elks Club.
Bert was a hunter, fisherman and avid baseball fan. He spent some of his happiest hours on a deer stand or in a duck blind. When he could no longer hunt, he attracted wildlife to his ranch, where they would actually come to his call.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Joanna and his grandson Stephen Hussey.
Bert is survived by his wife of 77 years, Lenore; his two sons, Jack and Paul; daughters-in-law Martha and Raquel; grandchildren, Joanne Bovee, Stephanie O'Dell, Bret Hussey and Jon Hussey; and six great-grandchildren.
Bert will be remembered by all for his sense of humor and generosity. He was always there for a friend.
One of his happiest achievements in the last month was passing his driver's test at the age of 95!
To know him was to love him. We will miss him greatly.
Private interment. A memorial will be held in February.

My sympathies go out to the Hussey family.
I knew Burt from being the Hussey’s Moving & Storage mailman for almost 20 years. I didn’t see much of him because he would always be out back in the warehouse. But I would see him at least a couple times a month and always saw him at the companies Christmas party. He used to love to tell fish and hunting stories. OH! How I would loved to be with him on his many trips.
To Jack and Paul. You had a great dad.
