Anastasia Van Brunt Obituary

Anastasia "Betty" Van Brunt, of Rutter Avenue, Kingston, passed away Thursday at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Township, surrounded by her loving family.

Born Feb. 17, 1919, in the Hanover section of Nanticoke, she was a daughter of the late Simon and Eva Repak Homchak. She attended Nanticoke schools.

Moving to Ashley, Betty was employed for many years by RCA, Mountain Top. Later, upon moving to Kingston, Betty resided on Rutter Avenue, where she helped raise her six grandchildren.

Her faith and her family were most important in her life. Sewing, knitting and crocheting were the joys of her pastime. She will be sadly missed.

Her husband, Robert W. Van Brunt, died April 6, 1960. Also preceding her in death were her son-in-law, Robert R. Rowlands, on Nov. 10, 1998; a brother, Michael; and sisters, Mary Hudachek and Anna Brezanski.

Surviving are her daughter, Roberta E. Rowlands, Kingston, with whom she resided; grandchildren, Robert Rowlands, Mary and her husband, Daniel Modrow; Joseph and Michael Rowlands, Anne and her husband, George Gavrish; David Rowlands; a great-grandson, Evan Gavrish, all of Kingston.

Funeral for Betty will be held at 9 a.m. Monday at Hugh P. Boyle & Son Funeral Home Inc., 416 Wyoming Ave., Kingston, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. Ignatius of Loyola Church, 339 N. Maple Ave., Kingston.
