Betty Mascelli Obituary

FORTY FORT — Betty Mascelli, 89, of Murray Street, Forty Fort, died Wednesday afternoon, Dec. 6, 2017, at Kingston Manor.

Born in Luzerne, she was the daughter of the late Oscar and Catherine Keil Singley. She graduated from Luzerne High School.

Betty had resided in Forty Fort for her entire life. She served for 25 years on the Forty Fort Council. She was a former President of the Forty Fort Fireman's Auxiliary. She was also a member of the VFW Post 8595 Auxiliary and Forty Fort Baseball for Boys.

Betty was honored in 2014 by the Forty Fort Community by having the Forty Fort Park renamed the Betty Mascelli Park.

She also had a summer residence at Onawandah Private Campground and served on the Board of Directors.

Betty was a member of Huntsville United Methodist Church, Huntsville.

Preceding her in death are her husband of 62 years, Raymond, and son, John (Jack) Mascelli; as well as her beloved dog, Sam, will be with her.

Surviving are her daughter-in-law, Susan Mascelli, of Forty Fort; grandchildren, Tiffany Walck and her husband, Ben, of New Jersey, Kimberly Mascelli and Charles Halchak, of Mountain Top; great-grandchildren, Charlie Halchak, Ella Walck, Jackson Walck and Rowan Walck; many nieces and nephews; special friends, Robert (Skip) Carey and his wife, Coral, Norita Hanlon and family, Grace Grasso.

Funeral at 10 a.m. on Monday from the Hugh B. Hughes & Son Inc. Funeral Home, 1044 Wyoming Ave., Forty Fort, with Rev. Richard H. Williams officiating.

The interment will be in Denison Cemetery, Swoyersville.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.

The family also would like to thank the entire staff at Kingston Manor for all the special care given to Betty.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions, if desired, can be made to the Huntsville United Methodist Church.

I worked for Betty at the assisted living and she was a wonderful lady. I'm sorry we were never able to spend much time together but that's the nature of the job. The write up today was beautiful! I'm so sorry for your loss.
