Beverly Sayre Obituary

HUNLOCK CREEK — Beverly Mae "Bev" Sayre, 83, of Hunlock Creek, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2024, at Allied Hospice, Wilkes-Barre.

She was born on Dec. 30, 1940, and was the daughter of the late Elmer and Anna Sites Kester. Bev graduated from Lehman High School, Class of 1958.

She loved tennis, Hallmark movies, the Pittsburgh Steelers, attending family events and parties, and was a world traveler. The most important accomplishment was taking care of her family. Bev was a longtime member of the Maple Grove United Methodist Church and was a former member of the Meeker Methodist Church. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her aunt and uncle who raised her, Bruce and Sue Varner; brother, Farris; sister, Alice.

Beverly is survived by her childhood sweetheart and husband of 65 years, Robert Sayre, Sr.; daughters: Christine Sayre, Cathy Fuller, Terry Eckert, Tracey Cragle, and Rhonda Spencer; son, Robert Sayre, Jr.; grandchildren: Matt, Luke, Jessica, Jeffrey, Sean, Lee III, Bradley, Kyle, and Caleb; great-granddaughters: Ella, Lainey, Lilliana and Madison; "sibling cousins:" Lorraine Dennis, Doris Ward, and Bruce Varner, Sr.

Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family from the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home Inc., corner of Routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek, with pastor Rick Blaine, officiating. There will be no calling hours. Private interment will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Lake Township.

Arrangements are by Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home Inc., Routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek.

She was the light of our family, and put that light in each and every one of us, that we will carry on for the rest of our lives.

What a sad day for so many...knew Bev since kids in Sunday School at Maple Grove...What a beautiful person inside and out. So sorry for all the family. She and husband were inseparable all through school and their lives. so special. May she RIP.
