Dane Davis Obituary
HARRISBURG — Dane Michael Davis, the beloved 22-year old son of Keith and Maria Davis, Harrisburg, and brother of Derek was welcomed into heaven on May 25, 2014, while visiting with friends in Delaware.
Dane was born in Harrisburg on May 11, 1992. He was a member of Holy Name of Jesus Church, where he attended elementary and middle school, and continued his Catholic education at Bishop McDevitt High School, where he was a 2010 graduate.
While at Bishop McDevitt, Dane made many friends within the McD family, was a member of the National Honor Society and was a member of the tennis, soccer and swim teams. Dane was a Mid-Penn and District medalist in several swimming events, a PIAA state finals competitor and still holds several Bishop McDevitt swim team records. Dane also played soccer for the Lower Dauphin Soccer Association and swam for the Heatherfield Swim Team during the summer.
He was currently attending Temple University, where he was a risk management and insurance major, and was also enrolled in the Spanish and Latin American studies business certification program because of his love for international culture and his fluency in Spanish. He would have graduated from Temple in May 2015.
This young man that God thought needed to be an angel at such a young age was a gifted writer, loved to play his guitar, was a fan of all genres of music, was a huge fan of Dave Matthews Band, was passionate about watching soccer, loved reading, biking, the water and beach, city life, traveling and had the opportunity to travel extensively and created a lifetime of memories for his family on all of their family vacations.
Dane loved to spend time with his family that he loved so much and the many friends that he accumulated during his short lifetime. His unexpected passing leaves an enormous hole in the hearts of all who had the privilege to know this young man.
Dane was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Chester and Carolyn Dragon.
He is survived by his parents, Keith and Maria Davis, Harrisburg; his brother, Derek, at home; his paternal grandparents, Windsor and Meryl Davis, Harveys Lake; Aunt Beth Davis and Uncle Mike Salvati, Dallas; Uncle Paul and Aunt Denise Dragon, Trucksville; Uncle Chet and Aunt Debbie Dragon, Huntington Mills; and cousins, Sarah Slody, Tyler Dragon, Jacob Dragon, Alyssa Dragon.
The family extends their appreciation to everyone for their love and support during this difficult time.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Friday in the Holy Name of Jesus Church, 6150 Allentown Blvd., Harrisburg. Visitation will be held 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the Hoover Funeral Home & Crematory Inc., 6011 Linglestown Road, Harrisburg, and also from noon until the time of Mass Friday at the church. Interment will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Harrisburg.
In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to Bishop McDevitt High School, 1 Crusader Way, Harrisburg, PA 17111, to fund a scholarship in Dane's memory.

A few years ago we traveled to Rehoboth Beach, with Dane's parents, to meet him before Dane had to return for his shift at Funland. He suggested a restaurant off the boardwalk that was a poplar eatery. We sat, talked & did some catching up. Special time, great food & the best fish tacos ever! Later we stopped in at his living quarters where his Mom had a large care package so Dane & his roommates wouldn't go hungry...wonderful day!

My daughter Cara swam with Dane at Bishop McDevitt. At one of their last swim meets, I had the good fortune of talking with Dane at length, primarily about his college plans. I found him to be a very personable, intelligent, respectful young man with quite the winning smile and wit. I saw him as someone who would certainly make a big impact on the world at large, and those with whom he came into contact, in particular. I know he did while he as with us. He will be missed.
As one who experienced true loss all too well, I was counseled that there are some things you can never get over, you just get through. I pray that Dane's family's wonderful memories of their upbeat, driven and polite son provides some comfort and peace now and for many days to come.
