David A. Daniels, 70, of Shavertown and Lake Carey, earned his wings in heaven on Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2021, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Kingston, he was the son of the late Albert Oliver Daniels and Ruth Edna Morgan Daniels.
He graduated from Wyoming Area High School and attended Williamsport Technical School. He worked for Ridgley Block, Shawnee Concrete, and Coon Concrete, all as a CDL driver. After retirement he worked for LCCC as a driving instructor. During and after his career, he was always willing to help friends and family with any and all side jobs, especially concrete. He was known as the foreman and gladly gave instructions to everyone on the job site.
David was an avid boater, skier, swimmer, hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed flea markets, antiquing and couldn't pass up a good roadside treasure. He was a member of Shavertown United Methodist Church, the Izaak Walton hunting club, Lake Carey Sportsmans club, and was a Mason at the Dallas lodge. He accomplished his dream of having his cottage at Lake Carey for the last 20 years where he made countless memories with family and friends.
David had many friends some more than 50 years such as Bob Stanton, Bob Winters and Michael Donnelly, just to name a few. He was an inspiration to many and showed what it was like to live life to the fullest with no regrets. He was a generous, optimistic (to the end), hardworking, loyal man who always kept his word. He would make a deal on a hand shake. David was a kind and gentle soul who loved to laugh. He taught his sons to have respect and kindness for others from his example. And as you could have guessed, this was not written without Dave's instruction.
Surviving are his wife of 43 years, the former Nancy Coslett; his two sons, Ryan and his wife Kristin, of Shavertown; and Paul and his wife Nikki, of Dallas; his beloved grandchildren who were the light of his life, Tyler, Cassidy, Benjamin and Addison; his brothers-in-law that he considered brothers, Jack, Jeff and Steven Coslett; his many nieces and nephews; his long time devoted friends; his lifelong friend he considered a sister, Madeline Sivak and husband Andy Sivak, of Doylestown; his devoted aunt, Edith Hill; cousins Dave Morgan, Bethanne Predney, Doug Daniels; and sisters, Debbie Switzer and Carol Travelbee.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2021, from Harold C. Snowdon Funeral Home Inc., 140 N. Main St., Shavertown. Pastor Jon Buxton, of Shavertown United Methodist Church, will serve as officiant. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 8, and from 10 a.m. until time of service on Tuesday.
He was a lucky man to have so many people in his life, including extented family members and friends, who were devoted to him.
Many thanks to Associated Family Home Care staff and nurses who treated David with respect and compassion. Donations in David's name can be made to Hospice of the Sacred Heart or Medical Oncology Associates of Kingston prescription fund.

Nancy and family. Joanne and I were so saddened to hear of Dave's passing. Dave and I bumped in to each other a few years back early morning out at the Lakeside skillet. He joined me for breakfast. Shared some good old stories. Dave was truly a special person. He will truly be missed by family and friends.
