Doris Kitchen Obituary

Doris W. Kitchen, 85, of Dallas Township, died Friday, April 16, 2010, in Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Township. Born in Dallas Township, on July 7, 1924, Doris was a daughter of the late William and Leona Smith Wandel. A lifelong resident of Dallas Township, Doris attended the Dallas Township High School. Doris enjoyed crocheting, quilting, sewing and gardening. She especially loved her flower garden and, above all, Doris loved life. She was active in the Back Mountain Collector's Club, the Polish-American Singers, the Choral Society Singers of Misercordia, and was a member of the Noxen Baptist Bible Church. Preceding Doris in death, in addition to her parents, were sisters, Vida Adams, Iva Dennis and Emma Creagh; and a brother, Daniel Wandel. Surviving Doris are her husband of 61 years, David J.; children, Emmalou Belles and husband, William, Dallas; Sue Johnson and husband, Gerald, Hanover Township, and Daniel W., Dallas Township; 11 grandchildren and their spouses; three great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday from the Harold C. Snowdon Funeral Home Inc., 140 N. Main St., Shavertown. Pastor William Stritzinger will officiate. Interment will be made in Lakeview Cemetery, Harveys Lake. Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Memorial donations, if desired, may be made to the Noxen Baptist Bible Church, Tunkhannock Road, Noxen, PA 18636.

I have a great many wonderful memories of Nan Kitchen. She always made me feel welcomed any time I saw her. I will always smile when I think of her singing & always having a good time, enjoying life! Heaven just got brighter with her arrival. Love to all of her family, especilly Pop & all the Belles. Thank you for sharing her with me!

Nana Kitchen was a women who loved people and enjoyed life. She has been a huge part of my life and I will miss her very much. What a comfort to know that she is now in the presence of our Savior and no longer suffering.
