Jeanne Stranch Obituary

Jeanne Elena Stranch, formerly of the Hilldale section of Plains Township, passed from her mother’s arms into the Lord’s hands on Saturday surrounded by family at Tiffany Court Assisted Living Facility, Kingston.
Born in Hilldale, she is a daughter of Anna C. Vecerkauskas Stranch and the late William W. Stranch Sr. She was a graduate of James M. Coughlin, Class of 1986. After graduating, she was employed by the United Rehabilitation Services, Wilkes-Barre. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Church, Plains; the Lithuanian Women’s Club of Luzerne County; the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 413.
She was an active member in the Luzerne-Wyoming Counties MH-MR Programs. Through this group, Jeanne participated in the Special Olympics, where she won numerous medals in swimming. She attended the Day Development Program in Kingston and was an active bowler in the Up & Down Bowling League held at Chacko’s Bowling Lanes, Wilkes-Barre.
She is preceded in death by her father, William, who died May 19, 1988.
Surviving, in addition to her mother, are brothers William Jr. and his wife, Judy, Wilmington, Del.; Vincent J. and his wife, Karen Chabala, Larksville; sisters Anne Marie and her husband, Tom Emerson, Owings Mills, Md.; Marianne Stranch and her husband, David Schapiro, Elmont, N.Y.; Melanie and her husband, Allan Kayne, Allamuchy, N.J.; niece Sarah Emerson; nephews David Stranch, Max Erroude and Sam Kayne; aunts, uncles and cousins.
The funeral will be held at 9 a.m. Wednesday, March 7, 2007, from the Yanaitis Funeral Home, 55 Stark St., Plains, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church, Plains. Interment will be in St. Francis Cemetery, Plains.
Friends may call Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to ARC of the Luzerne County, 183 Market St. Kingston, PA 18704. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.yanaitisfuneralhome.com .
