John Audi Obituary

J ohn C. Audi (Skip), of Scottsdale, Arizona, formerly of Wilkes-Barre, died Saturday at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center.
He was born in Wilkes-Barre, a son of the late Charles and Barbara Audi. A graduate of GAR Memorial High School, Class of 1949, he served in the United States Air Force. He was a former owner of Audi’s Lounge, S. Main St., Wilkes-Barre. John was employed by Acme Supermarkets until his retirement in 1993. For many years, he was also employed by the Pocono Downs Racing Authority. He was a member of St. Mary’s Antiochian Orthodox Church, Wilkes-Barre.
John’s greatest pleasures were to spend time with his grandchildren. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother who was happiest when surrounded by his family, all of whom will miss his wit and humor, but most of all, will miss his love and presence in their lives.
Surviving are his beloved wife, Lorraine (Zionce) Audi, Scottsdale, Ariz.; son John C. Audi Jr. and his wife, Janet, Valrico, Fla.; daughters Barbara Richardson and her husband, Glenn, Mountain Top; Elaine Makos and her husband, Steven, Phoenix; sister Gail Luksic and her husband, John, Lancaster; four grandchildren, Alec and Erin Richardson, Steven and Jillian Makos; brother-in-law Stanley Zionce and his wife, Dolores, Burlington, New Jersey; aunts Mrs. Nell Atty, Lancaster, and Mrs. O.J. Solomon, Wilkes-Barre; as well as many dearly loved cousins.
Funeral will be Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. from the Mamary-Durkin Funeral Home, 59 Parrish St., Wilkes-Barre. Service will be at 11 a.m. in St. Mary’s Antiochian Church. Interment will be at the parish cemetery. Friends may call Monday from 5 to 8 p.m.

I remember meeting Skip several times when I was young, mostly at his house or with Gail & Aunt Babe, and at Uncle Charley's funeral. It's hard to lose family, so keep the memories close to heart. From reading the obit, I see that I have a third (?) cousin living in Valrico. That's where Steve and I live. I'd love to get in touch! Again, caring thoughts are with Skip's family & friends.
