John Hudak Obituary

John J. Hudak, 76, of Lehman Township, passed away Wednesday at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
Born in Dallas, he was a son of the late Anthony A. and Mary Lopuchovsky Hudak. He graduated from Dallas Township High School, Class of 1950. Before retiring, he was employed as a caretaker for Dwight Fisher, Jane Kirmse and Frank and Carol Bevevino.
He was an Army veteran of the Korean War with the rank of Staff Sergeant. John was a member of St. Therese’s Church, Shavertown, and Daddow Isaacs American Legion Post 672, Dallas. For many years, he served as ringmaster for the Lehman Township Volunteer Fire Co. Horse Show.
John was an avid outdoorsman and lover of nature. He found great peace and enjoyment working outside in all seasons. He took tremendous pride in his property as well as mowing lawn and maintaining numerous other properties.
John was a husband, father, papa, uncle, friend and teller of stories from the past to everyone. Whether John was plowing snow, cutting trees, fixing something or spending time with his family, he enjoyed life and encouraged others to do the same. He was always happy to mark another item off “the list,” as his to-do list never ended.
He was proud of his entire family and extended family. Heaven surely has gained one remarkable person.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Anthony W. and Joseph Hudak; sisters, Victoria Winiski, Isabelle Sudol, Anna Ondish, Josephine Miller and Marie Silic.
Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Alice Ide Hudak; son, John J., Jr.; daughter, Suzanne Rismondo and husband, Robert P., all of Lehman; siblings, Rose Salansky, Harveys Lake; Alfred Hudak, Dallas; David Hudak, Neshanic Station, N.J.; grandchildren, Samantha Jo Hudak, Johnna Hudak, and Rene Rismondo.
Funeral service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. from the Richard H. Disque Funeral Home Inc., 672 Memorial Highway, Dallas, with Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. in St. Therese’s Church, with the Rev. James J. Paisley officiating. Interment will be in Chapel Lawn Memorial Park, Dallas. Friends may call Friday, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Therese’s Church Capital Campaign, c/o St. Therese’s Church, 64 Davis St., Shavertown, PA 18708.

Alice, Sue and John:

My Mom had called to tell me the news. So sorry for your loss, and please accept our deepest sympathies. I remember the wonderful times we had going to Farmer Dances on Saturday nights and watching John play the drums! He had such a good time and always made everyone feel welcome. He will be greatly missed.

Sue & family, what a tremedous loss...you know I feel your pain. The loss of a parent is painful enough, but when they were such a wonderful caring person, the loss so much more for you and your family and friends to endure. When my mom passed in December I received a card and written in the card was, "Please remember the depth of your pain equals the depth of your love", so Sue I send this to you in hopes that is provides you the comfort and peace it provided me. Take care my friend. -Mori
