John Maira Obituary

John Maira Sr., 87, of Pittston, passed away Thursday, Feb. 27, 2025, at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center.

Born in Pittston, he was the son of the late Ross and Josephine Buschemi Maira. John was a graduate of Pittston High School and served in the United States Air Force. He was employed by Zorgo Printing Service, Pittston.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Theresa Maira, in 2019; daughter-in-law, Jodi Maira; sister, Angie Sellani; and brothers, Sam and Carl Maira.

Surviving are sons: John Maira, Wyoming; and Rich Maira and wife Tatiana, Pittston; grandchildren: Christine Maira and Lucas Maira; and nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends and relatives from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Adonizio Funeral Home LLC, 251 William St., Pittston. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday in St. Joseph Marello Parish, 237 William St., Pittston. Those wishing to attend are asked to go directly to the church on Tuesday morning.
