Mary Boring Obituary

OCEAN PINES, Md. — Mary Ann (Posluszny) Boring, of Ocean Pines, Md., passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, Aug. 18, 2016. She was 64 years old at the time of her passing. Her death followed a multi-year struggle with breast cancer.

Born in Pittston in 1951, she was the daughter of Marion and Emanuel Posluszny. She served in the U.S. Air Force from 1972 to 1976, where she met her husband, Nate Boring, in San Antonio, Texas; they were married in 1976. Most of her Air Force career was spent at the Air Force Hospital in Weisbaden, Germany, and she was the first female medic to work in the Emergency Department there. Her working career included positions in retail sales, the hospitality industry and, more recently, as the receptionist for a well-regarded law firm in Annapolis, Md., from which she retired in 2014.

Along with her parents and devoted husband, she is survived by a son, Brian and his wife, Leah, of Fallston, Md.; two granddaughters, Frankie Rose and Annie Campbell, who were clearly the joy of her life; four siblings, JoAnn Brauer, Tom Posluszny, Pat Sawko and David Posluszny.

She was tragically predeceased by her son Jeremy in 2007.

Her life can be summed up as determined, courageous and kind.

The funeral will be held Monday from the Paul F. Leonard Funeral Home, 575 N. Main St., Pittston, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in Our Lady of the Eucharist Parish, Pittston. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Interment will be at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, Mary Ann would like contributions to be made to Coastal Hospice, P.O. Box 1733, Salisbury, MD 21802.
