DUPONT — Richard C. Duncan, 89, Dupont, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2022, at his home.
He was born in Huntington, W.Va., son of the late Marie Duncan Fox. Richard attended West Virginia Schools, and left to join the United States Army. He was proud to serve his country on active duty for over seven years as a weapons infantryman. He later re-enlisted as a reservist. Richard courageously served during the Korean War, receiving many awards including: Army Occupational Medal (Japan) with one clasp; Korean Service Medal with two BZ Service Stars; Nat Def Service Medal; and UN Service Medal. He was employed in schools as security, and earlier in The Consolidated Cigar Co. as a floor manager. Richard enjoyed being a volunteer fireman for the Hibernia Fire Department in Rockaway, N.J.
He was predeceased by his son Richard Duncan.
Surviving is his beloved wife of 56 years, Elsie (Owen) Duncan; and sons: David Duncan (Dee) of Lake Harmony; Peter Duncan of Duryea; Dale Duncan (Amy) of Coppers Cove, Texas; grandchildren: Wynter Perillo, Breanna Duncan, Ian Duncan, and Carsten Duncan.
The funeral service will be Friday at 11 a.m., in the Metcalfe Shaver Kopcza Funeral Home, 504 Wyoming Ave., Wyoming.
Interment will be in Chapel Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Dallas.
Friends may call Friday, December 9, from 10 to 11 a.m., at the funeral home.
