Steven M. Sims, 55, of Warrior Run, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 17, 2026. He will be sadly missed by all of those who loved him and knew him.
He was born in Wilkes-Barre on May 18, 1970, the son of the late Warren and Jeanette (Seferyn) Sims Sr. He was a member of the graduating class of 1988 of Hanover Area High School. He went on to further his education and achieved a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from Penn State University. He was employed by Verizon for 25 years, where he started his career as an installer and advanced to a cable splicing technician. Steven was a member of St. Leo the Great Church, Ashley, and a member of the Communication Workers Association.
He was a devoted and loving family man who treated all he encountered with equal care, compassion, and respect. When he was not working, he spent many hours building family houses. In his spare time, he enjoyed competing in any game, watching football, and playing cards. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his daughter Miah, his pride and joy.
Preceding him in death was a sister, Diane Sims.
Surviving are his wife of 23 years, Melissa (Popko) Sims; daughter, Miah Sims; stepdaughters, Sierra Boragno (Vince) and Cindy Simonton; three grandchildren, Jacob, Jaxon and Benjamin; brothers, Warren Sims Jr. and Mark Sims (Davina); sisters, Denise Sipple (James), Donna Boyle (William), and Debra Hoats (Arthur); and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Family and friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday in St. Leo the Great Church, 33 Manhattan St., Ashley. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m., officiated by the Rev. Vincent Dang. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Twp.
