BEAR CREEK — Viola Fazzi Centini, 96, passed away peacefully in the presence of her loving family at her home in Bear Creek on Oct. 25, 2024.
Born Velia Fazzi on May 13, 1928, she was a daughter of the late Nello and Theresa Gross Fazzi of Bear Creek.
Viola devoted most of her life to caring for her family. She was strongly connected to her Italian heritage and stayed in contact with family members in Gualdo Tadino, in the Province of Perugia. An unrivaled cook, she was well-known for her excellence with lasagna, ravioli, cappelletti and porketta, all made from scratch.
Viola positively impacted the lives of her husband, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many others.
Viola's husband, John J. Centini, died on Aug. 13, 2012. Her son-in-law, William A. Wunner; sister, Laura Rompolla; and brother, Albert Fazzi; also preceded her in death.
Her daughter, Sharon Wunner, of Bear Creek; sons: Michael and his wife Dee Centini, of Bear Creek; and John 'Buddy' Centini and his partner Justin Cook, of Kingston; grandchildren: Corey and his wife, Lisa Wunner; Cait and her husband, Travis Andes; Amber Ashford and her partner, Bob Jakubowski; and Autumn Ashford; great-grandchildren: Amelia, Gemma, Teighan, and Ryker; brother, John Fazzi, of Bear Creek; best dog, Richard; and other family and friends will miss her very much.
Our entire family is grateful for the loving home care and support of Hospice of the Sacred Heart's nurses, volunteers and staff.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Church of Ss. Peter and Paul, 13 Hudson Road, Plains Township.
