Marie Battalini Obituary

Marie (Mrkonja) Battalini "Patsy"
83, passed away unexpectedly on February 2, 2021. She was born June 10, 1937 in Aliquippa and was the daughter of the late Mike and Margaret Mrkonja.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Frank Battalini and four brothers: George, Milan, Joseph, and Nicholas Mrkonja.
Patsy was a member of St. Titus Church. She will be remembered and cherished as the beloved matriarch of her adoring family, to which she tended with the greatest love and loyalty. She was a woman of great wit, character and humor who loved to laugh. She took great pleasure in cooking and caring for her children and (great) grandchildren, sisters and brothers, and friends alike. She enjoyed spending time with her family, reading, gallivanting with her sisters and playing a scratch ticket or two. She will forever be celebrated in joy and in light for the legacy of love she instilled to all those around her.
Patsy is survived by her two devoted daughters: Valerie Battalini(Rick Cropper) and Vicki (Martin) Thomas. Cherished grandchildren: Martin Christopher Thomas, Quinn Thomas, Austa Thomas (Kevin McDanel) and great-grandson: Urban McDanel. Four sisters: Eva Silvestri and Joan Mrkonja who lived with Patsy. Eva, Joan and Patsy were lovingly named "The Golden Girls" as they were always together shopping or having lunch at McDonald's with their friends. Ann Marcello, and Lily Taormina. Brothers: Louis Mrkonja and John (Josephine) Mrkonja. Brothers-in-law: Anthony (Louise) Battalini, Ron Marsolo, Paul (Sherry) Marsolo, and Louie Battalini. Sisters-in-law: Louise (Jesse) Corsi, Lucille (David) Witiaz, Madelyn Marsolo and many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made in memory of Patsy to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
All services were private. Interment took place at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
