Felix Sweeney Obituary

Felix W. Sweeney, 91, died on Thursday, Dec. 25, 2008, at the Francis E. Parker Memorial Home in New Brunswick, N.J., after a long illness.
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
He was born July 4, 1917, in New Philadelphia, O., where he grew up and lived until enlisting in the U.S. Army. He graduated from officer candidate's school in Carlisle, Pa., and served during World War II. He attained the rank of Lt. Colonel and served in the Medical Corps, Transportation Corps, and in the Attorney General's Department at the Pentagon.
Mr. Sweeney sold construction equipment for Paul Pumps, Wayne Crane, American Hoist & Derrick and Manitowoc Engineering Co. He retired in 1985 as the Executive Vice President of The Manitowoc Forsythe Co., a subsidiary of Manitowoc Engineering, in Long Island City, N.Y.
He lived for many years in Westfield, N.J., and also South Bethany, Del.
Mr. Sweeney was a former member of the NY Athletic Club and a member emeritus of the MOLES, an organization for building and excavation contractors and business people.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Deuris Ehehalt Sweeney, of the Francis E. Parker Memorial Home, New Brunswick, N.J.; a son, Michael A. Sweeney and his wife, Linda, of Ridgefield, Conn.; a daughter, Nancy S. Heinkel of North Plainfield, N.J.; three granddaughters, Kathryn, Barbara and Suzanne; and a grandson, Matthew.
