Todd Bassett Obituary
age 48, of 1958 1/2 Roxford Street, New Philadelphia, Ohio (Barnhill), died early Wednesday morning, May 14, 2014 in the Community Hospice House at New Philadelphia following a one and a half year battle with cancer.
He was born Nov. 23, 1965 in Dover, Ohio and was the son of Dale Arlene Scott Bassett of the residence, and the late Richard Eugene Bassett, Sr. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a sister, Jean L. Cross. Todd was very fond of riding motorcycles. He was a professionally rated table foosball player at one time. He formerly traveled extensively to play in foosball tournaments and participated in several world championship events. Todd was an enthusiastic fan of NASCAR and also enjoyed attending the local race events at Midvale Speedway. He loved all sports, but was particularly passionate about the Ohio State Buckeyes. He found delight in sharing the companionship of his nieces and nephews.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Vicki Griffith of Barnhill and Mrs. Paul (Tara) Leavers of Midvale Ohio; and two brothers, Richard E. Bassett, Jr. of Uhrichsville, Ohio and Mark (Vicki) Bassett of Midvale; and 11 nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m., May 17, 2014 in the Baxter-Gardner Funeral Home at Sherrodsville with Chaplain Butch Nisly officiating. Interment will follow be in the Evergreen Burial Park at New Philadelphia. Calling hours will be held Saturday from 11 a.m. until time of services at 1 p.m. in the funeral home. The family suggests memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice of Tuscarawas County, 716 Commercial Avenue S.W. New Philadelphia, OH 44663. I did not know Todd real well. I knew him when I was younger and he was such a great guy. He took me on a motorcycle ride one time and he was a perfect gentlemen. I am so sorry for the loss of Todd. I know lots of his family. My prayers are with you at this time of such a loss of a young man.

My deepest sympathy to the entire Bassett family. For many, many years Todd was the true definition of a friend to me. Truly like no other, he was MY Brother from another Mother, :-) my best friend. He had a heart of gold and I will miss him and NEVER forget the great times we had together over the years. Todd wouldn't want any of us to grieve too much because he is not suffering ANY more. Heaven is no doubt a cooler place with Todd, up there. Hey Todd make sure you save a spot on that holy golden foosball table up in heaven for me.

Dale, Rick, Mark and the rest of the family...I'm so sorry to hear about Todd, he was so kind and caring. At least he is no longer in pain, I know that doesn't make it any easier. Todd will sadly be missed. You all are in my prayers... Kim Jo Tharp...
