Andrew Schinnerer Obituary

Schinnerer, Andrew ALBANY Andrew Schinnerer died peacefully at home on August 1, 2012. He was born on February 15, 1927 in Albany to Harry and Grace, the fourth of their eight children. First and foremost, Andrew was a devoted husband to his "ever-loving Patsy," and a proud father of his four sons. Andy's extraordinarily kind and gregarious nature made him a favorite among his and Pat's lifelong circle of friends. He served in World War II as a Navy Seabee and remained an active member of the VFW. His favorite pastimes were gardening and music, and he happily passed on his love of both to his sons. In his later years, he served as a volunteer, repairing broken toys for a children's charity. Andrew is predeceased by his oldest son Todd. He is survived by his wife Patricia; his three sons, Rod (Maggie) of Carmel, Calif., Kurt (Lana) of Manassas, Va, and Steve (Kat) of Marblehead, Mass.; his sister Jeannie; and his brother Artie; his eight grandchildren, Jenny, Katie, Andrew, Steven, Tricia, Brandi, Kayla and Noah; and one great-granddaughter Lilah also survives "Poppy." A memorial Mass for Andrew will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, August 11, 2012 at Christ the King Church in Guilderland. "To live in hearts we leave behind is not to die" Thomas Campbell

Dear Pat, Rod, Kurt, & Steve: My thoughts and prayers go out to you on your loss. Andy was a close and good friend to my parents, Dick and Roberta Krug, as well as to me, Paul, their youngest son. I remember all the good times they had together, especially the house parties. What good times they all shared. As a fellow "Seabee" and retired Naval Officer, I wish Andy "farewell and following seas". May he rest in peace.
