Herbert Isen Obituary

GUILDERLAND, N.Y. Herbert Isen, age 93, of Guilder Lane, Guilderland, died Wednesday morning, July 23, 2003 at the Community Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital, Albany, NY. Mr. Isen was born in Germany and had been a Capital District area resident since 1947. He had been the proprietor of the former Herby's Restaurant on Lark Street in Albany and later on lower Washington Avenue in Albany. For many years, he was the executive chef for the Sheraton Corporation. He was also the first executive caterer for Temple Israel in Albany. He retired in 1977. He was a member of Congregation Ohav Shalom in Albany as well as Albany City Lodge #540 Knights of Pythias in Albany. He is survived by his wife, Adele Steinberg Isen; father of Dr. Bert Isen of Albany, N.Y., Dr. Jeffrey Isen of Northboro, Mass. and Joan Rita Ross of Amenia, N.Y. He is also survived by five grandchildren. Services at the Levine Memorial Chapel, 649 Washington Avenue, Albany on Sunday July 27, 2003 at 9:00 a.m. Interment will follow services in the Ohav Shalom Cemetery on Western Avenue in Guilderland, NY. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society, 333 Seventh Avenue Floor #17, New York, NY 10001-5019.
