John was a great boss, great cop and a good man. I always enjoyed first working for him in patrol and subsequently working with him in DB. My younger brother Al called John, " Mr. Excitement " He will be missed by all of us who shared the uniform.

I am so sorry to see that John has passed. What a great guy. Went to many get togethers for breakfast with many of the retired police officers of Troy. John was a guy who really knew how to get retired guys together for this. Just a great guy!!! My sincere condolences to his entire family. May he RIP.

My most sincerest sympathy to the Comitale family. I had the unique honor and experience to have worked for John as a young patrolman and later to work with him in the Detective Bureau. He set a high standard to follow and readily shared his extensive knowledge of DB work with all of us new Sgts and Dets as we came to the DB. His dedication to the mission was without equal and in this way he exemplified the TPD motto of Service ,Trust , Professionalism. There are countless crime victims , 100s of them, who received justice because of Det.Sgt Comitale who will never know the extent of his selfless devotion to duty . He was truly one of Troy´s Finest. RIP Sarge.
