Lynch, Joseph John, Jr.
HOMEWOOD, Ill. - Joseph John Lynch, Jr., died Tuesday, July 30, 2024, at Edward Hines, Jr. VA Hospital, Hines, Ill., with his family at his bedside. He was 81.
Born in Troy, N.Y., he was the son of the late Joseph John Lynch, Sr. and the late Carolyn Colehamer Lynch. He was a longtime resident of N.Y., with the last five years being spent in Homewood, Ill. He was a proud veteran of the United States Navy, serving six years, including participation in the Cuban Missile Crisis Blockade. He was also an Ancient Free and Accepted Mason in the 32nd degree, a member of the Fulton City Lodge No. 189, Fulton, Ill.
Survivors include his longtime partner, Patricia Mary Brown, of Homewood, Ill; loving brother of Steven Michael Lynch, M.D. (Linda), of Slingerlands, N.Y.; father of Kimberly Ann Lynch, of Saratoga, N.Y., Joseph John Lynch, III (Katie), of Rensselaer, N.Y., Matthew Joseph Lynch (Brandy), of Surprise, Ariz., the late Eric Steven Lynch, of Miami, Fla.; stepfather to Michael Clarence Brown, Jr. (Lena), of Joliet, Ill. and Kevin James Brown, of Homewood, Ill. He was the grandfather of Joseph John Lynch, IV, of Troy, N.Y., Finnegan Lynch, of Rensselaer, N.Y., Tyler Joseph Hanson, of Scottsdale, Ariz., Taelyr Marie Lynch, of Lockport, N.Y., Hunter Joseph Lynch (Kaili), of Surprise, Ariz., Hayden Matthew Lynch, of Surprise, Ariz.; stepgrandfather of Korinne Marie Brown, of Evanston, Ill.; and the great-grandfather of two.
Celebration of Life service will be private, at a future date. Interment of ashes will be at Oakwood Cemetery, in Troy.
Contributions in memory of Mr. Lynch may be made to Wounded Warrior Project, 4899 Belfort Rd., Suite 300, Jacksonville, Fla. 32256, or Capital City Rescue Mission, 259 S. Pearl St., Albany, N.Y. 12202.
