Leonard DiBella Obituary

DiBella, Leonard S. ALBANY Leonard S. DiBella, 87, passed away surrounded by his loving family on June 30, 2014. Leonard was the beloved husband of the late Sophia DiBella (Bolton) and the son of the late Michael DiBella and Margaret DiBella (Curro). Leonard was a proud veteran of World War II and the Korean War (two tours). Leonard was a lithographer at Maqua Company (General Electric) Schenectady and Argus Greenwood in Menands. He ran the two color, five color and ten color web presses. Leonard served on the executive board of local Union 259 for a period of 20 years and later became vice president of the union. He also performed instructional education training in the press room. Leonard was very supportive of his co-workers and was beloved by all. Leonard was a lifelong fan of the Cubs and loved to play the horses and enjoyed his trips to England, but the most important thing to him was family. His daughters Kim and Tina provided countless hours of great companionship, comfort, care and love over his entire life. We give special thanks to his grandson Alex, who lived with Leonard in his later years after his beloved wife Sophia passed and was a very big part of his daily life, support and care. Leonard's grandsons John and Keith were also a special part of his life, he treasured his time with them and appreciated all the joy he received from being with them. His sons-in-law, Dan and Pat were always there for him. He loved Betty Ann, Veronica and Carol as daughters, they held a special place in his heart. His sons Michael and William loved him dearly. We also recognize all those that provided exceptional care for Leonard at Albany Medical Center over his eight weeks of treatment. Leonard is survived by his twin sons, Dr. Michael D. (Carol) DiBella, William L. (Veronica) DiBella; daughters, Tina M. (Daniel) Martin and Kimberly A. DiBella (Patrick) Keegan. Leonard is also survived by nine loving grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews whom he dearly loved. Funeral services on Saturday, July 5, 2014, at 8:15 a.m., from the McVeigh Funeral Home, 208 North Allen Street, Albany, thence to Blessed Sacrament Church, Albany, at 9 a.m., where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated.
