Robert Chittenden Obituary

Chittenden, Robert H. RENSSELAER Robert H. Chittenden, 77, of Eastwyck Circle died Saturday, February 27, 2016, at the Stratton VA Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Troy, he was the son of the late Harold and Ruth Siddons Chittenden. Robert was a graduate of Troy High School. He served in the U.S. Navy, and at the age of 18 he was presented a commanding officer's letter of commendation for his part in the rescue work at a plane crash at the Naval Air Station in Jacksonville, Fla. He belonged to the American Legion and the VFW. For most of his life Robert owned and operated B.C. Supply Co. in Troy until retiring in 1993. He then moved to Florida where he worked as a security guard at Disney World and was a Eucharistic Minister to the sick. He returned to the Capital District five years ago. Robert loved animals and had a great sense of humor. In his spare time he enjoyed skiing and boating. Robert was the father of Brett D. Chittenden (Trina Casselli) of Queens; and the brother of Eugene Chittenden of Orlando, Fla., and Betty Lindholm of California. He is also survived by his canine companion, Tasha. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass on Tuesday at 10 a.m. at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 119 Broad St., Waterford. Interment will follow in the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville. Memorial contributions may be made to the Stratton VA Medical Center, Hospice Unit, in care of the Philip J.
