Virginia Golden Obituary

Golden, Virginia
CLIFTON PARK - Virginia A. Golden, 83, died peacefully on March 21, 2023, in St. Charles, Ill. She is in the arms of God. Ginny was born on September 9, 1939, in Hackensack, N.J., to her beloved parents, Beatrice and Norman Thorn.
She graduated from Green Mountain College in 1959, and over the years, built a life filled with family, friends, and good work in New York. She was a founding member of Christ Community Reformed Church in Clifton Park, her spiritual home. She loved a myriad of things and experiences, with the top of the list being a great book, the power and peace of the ocean, an adventurous trip, a competitive card game, Christmas, baking cookies and favorite foods for family. She had a smile that lit up a room, a twinkle in her eye and a curiosity about the world that were all infectious. She had two great joys in life, her amazing group of friends and her family. The overlapping circle of her friends spanned from her childhood to today, across ages and locations. She tended and grew those friendships like the treasures they are, none more so than with the women in her beloved Saturday Morning Coffee Group. Her family members – the living, and all the many American generations of Thorns and Van Wagoners before her - cherishing them, sharing the highs and lows and curating and cultivating family lore, were her greatest joy.
Ginny is survived by her husband, James Golden; her sons, Dan, Greg, and Andrew Fullem; Dan's partner, Daina; and Greg's wife Janna; her stepson, James Golden and his wife Dawn and their daughter Gabrielle; her beloved grandchildren, Johnathon, Emma, Marghee, Joe, Mischa, and Jack; her brother Jim; her sisters-in-law, Cathy, Candy, Pat; her brothers-in-law, Don and Steve; and countless nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
There will be a celebration of Ginny's life at Christ Community Reformed Church in Clifton Park (1010 Route 146, Clifton Park) on April 15 at 11 a.m. All are welcome.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Christ Community Reformed Church or the Alzheimer's Association.
