Benjamin Davis Obituary

DAVIS Rev. Dr. Benjamin R. Davis, Jr., Pastor of Saint Mark Missionary Baptist Church, Middleburg, FL, passed away on March 5, 2002. Dr. Davis was employed as an administrator and teacher in the Duval County Public School System for 34 years, until his retirement in 2001. His last place of employment was Ribault Senior High School. His community affiliations include: Member of the Baptist Ministers Conference of Duval and adjacent counties; President Pro-Tem, Middle Florida and Clay County Baptist Ministers Conference; and Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc. He leaves to cherish his memory, devoted wife, Vera F. Davis; children, Conchita, Erika, and Lovely Davis; grandson, Benjamin D. Robinson; mother, Elder Ocie Davis; brother, Arthur (Suzanne) Davis; sister, Maxine Y. Davis; goddaughters, Ruth Pickett and Tesalyn Hill; special niece, Cheryl Walker, special friends, Dea. Samuel Gelzer, Delaney Williams, Dr. Gregory Davis, Van and Mary Jenkins, and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, and sorrowing friends. There will be a viewing held on Thursday, TODAY, March 7, 2002 from 5 until 6PM at St. Mark Baptist Church, 2703 Forman Circle, Middleburg, FL, and a Victory service immediately following at 6:30. Rev. Dr. Davis will rest in the mortuary for the visitation of friends on Friday, March 8, from 5 until 8PM. Funeral service will be Saturday, March 9 at 1:00PM in the Emanuel Missionary Baptist Church, Rev. Herb Anderson, pastor. Interment in Edgewood Cemetery.
