Esmin, our thoughts and prayers are with you and your entire family during this time of bereavement. You were always there for your Father and ensured he had the best of care. May God's peace and comfort be with you as you go through the days ahead.

God be with you and your family today and always.

To the Family (Joy) and friends of my god father, affectionately known to me as Shakey...

I am forever greatful to God for placing him in my life at such an early age. I remember all the nights over as a young child, sitting at the kitchen table drinking hot tea or coffee with him late nights. I recall all of the shopping retreats we went on and he never rushed me once, his reply was always "make sure that is what you want and will use." I remember our late, late night phone calls just to talk about nothing really, that was just his way of staying in touch.

I know that all the prayers we had together were not in vain and they worked!!!!!!!

I am so elated that He has found eternal rest in the arms of Jesus and I too am looking for the brighter day, but he can't crown Him until I get there, so my work is not done...

Thanks Shakey for forever reminding me to pay my tithes, even if I had to borrow the money from you (smile).

I thank God for my relationship with my sister (Joy), only God knew down the line He would have us to be bound together, she is truly a gift from above.

May today there be peace within, may you trust God that you are exactly where you are meant to be, may you never forget His infinite possilibilities that are born of faith, may you use the gifts that you have received and pass on the love that has been given to you, may you be content knowing you are a child of God, let His presence settle into your bones and allow your soul the freedom to sing, dance, praise and love, it is there for us each and everyday, let us put it to good use.

My Humblest Regards,

Velvet Chambliss Wilson

Be Still

Be still like the grass on a melancholy summer day
Be still like desert shrub.

Be calm and you will hear your loved one speak, in the stillness, in the calm, their love resounds.

If you are still this promise I make, you will hear the voice of your loved one helping you along your way.

Joy and the rest of the Shakespeare Family,

I truly feel a part of this family. Rev. Shakespeare blessed my baby (Velvet) 1969 at Mt. Pleasant AME Church Fruit Cove where he served as pastor. As he baptized the baby he proclaimed her his God-Daughter. We have been special friends all this time. My family will miss him and cherish his memory always. "A life well lived" A Man of God.

It is my prayer that God will make this time of sadness easier to bear.

In My Pocket

I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.

My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.

They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.

Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.

But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.
